BROTHER GILDAS
The Mists Over Eoforwic
TYOOL 557 SEPT
Entry dated the 12th day after the Feast of St. Michael, Year of Our Lord 557
Once more the mists have thickened over Eoforwic. Tonight I beheld Grave Shadow, a tall figure wrapped in the ragged cloak of a Roman legionary. He walks the old wall near the south gate, his eyes hollow with forgotten duty. He spoke not, yet I felt his sorrow, a soldier who died far from home and now cannot find rest.
We must record these souls. Not out of fear, but out of mercy. For if we forget the dead, how shall we remember our own frailty? Brother Wilfrid offered prayers, and Brother Ystradwel captured his likeness with quiet skill. May God have mercy on all who wander between worlds.
